The MAT800/810 has certain frequency characteristics. The attenuation varies with frequency, creating a gentle curve overall. Therefore, for the corresponding 16 frequency ranges, the MAT800 has 1600 steps of attenuation calibrated using an SG and power meter, while the MAT810 has 1200 steps. The MAT800 can set attenuation from 0dB to 80dB in 0.05dB increments with 1600 steps, and the MAT810 can set attenuation from 0dB to 60dB in 0.05dB increments with 1200 steps.

The frequency range is 300MHz to 6.6GHz, with a maximum attenuation of 60dB, and the attenuation setting can be adjusted in minimum steps of 0.05dB. It has a built-in program memory of 128k words, and arbitrary waveforms can be easily created using the included attenuation program creation software.

The development of wireless communication devices such as smartphones (mobile devices) and functional evaluation tests at the time of shipment greatly benefit from the use of electrical attenuators for assessing communication characteristics based on distance attenuation. Our high-speed programmable attenuator MAT series does not produce spike noise during attenuation level switching, allowing for uninterrupted virtualization of the mobile terminal's actual movement. By adopting a programmable attenuator, it is also possible to control it externally via GPIB or similar interfaces. This is particularly effective for creating unmanned testing environments and can be utilized for long-duration durability tests. Additionally, when installing wireless devices inside a radio anechoic chamber, they can be secured with specially developed fixtures for that specific test.
